Questo studio esegetico di Mc 2,13-17 parr. si propone di assecondare quanto indicano la Costituzione Dei Verbum, n. 12, e l’Esortazione apostolica Verbum Domini di Benedetto XVI, n. 34. Collocando nel grande contesto delle Scritture il racconto di Marco e dei testi paralleli (Mt 9,9-13; Lc 5,27-32), che ne rappresentano la più antica rilettura, si colgono significative “risonanze” che ne arricchiscono la comprensione. La chiamata di Levi (o Matteo) e l’atteggiamento di Gesù verso i peccatori assumono un valore emblematico che il Vangelo di Matteo evidenzia introducendo nelle parole di Gesù un richiamo a Os 6,6. Nella chiamata di un pubblicano e nella commensalità di Gesù con i peccatori è così possibile riconoscere un’icona della divina misericordia che si manifesta in Cristo e, di conseguenza, diventa il sommo criterio dell’agire cristiano.

This exegetical study of Mark 2,13-17 intends following the indications of the Constitution Dei Verbum number 12 and the Apostolic Exhortation Verbum Domini of Benedict XVI, number 34. By placing Mark’s narration and some parallel texts, (Matt 9,9-13; Lk 5,27-32) which represent the oldest re-reading in the wider context of the Scriptures, significant echoes which enrich their understanding may be perceived. The calling of Levi or Matthew and the attitude of Jesus towards sinners acquire an emblematic significance which the Gospel of Matthew underlines by introducing words similar to those of Hosea 6,6, into those of Jesus. It is thus possible to recognize in the calling of Matthew and Jesus sitting down to eat with sinners an icon of divine mercy which is manifested in Christ and consequently becomes the great criterion of Christianity.
