La tesi di questo articolo è che la nozione di un autentico umanesimo contemporaneo proposta da Lonergan è basata sui tratti fondanti della sua posizione sul soggetto umano. Tre asserzioni di questa posizione, prelevati da periodi e contesti differenti, sono presentate all’inizio, ed è studiato il contesto di ciascuna asserzione. La prima asserzione stabilisce le basi di un umanesimo filosofico. La seconda segnala le basi di un umanesimo teologico tra antropocentrismo e teocentrismo. La terza stabilisce come può essere sostenuta e sviluppata la coincidenza tra antropocentrismo e teocentrismo, e come una teologia emergente basata sulla conversione intellettuale, morale e religiosa, può costituire un’antropologia teologica. Una sezione è dedicata a sostenere la tesi basandosi sullo studio della nozione di umanesimo in Insight. Una seconda sezione aggiunge il contributo che la nazione lonerganiana di conversione psichica fornisce. Una terza sezione esplora come l’antropologia filosofica di Insight è sublimata dalle dimensioni morale e religiose costitutive di una antropologia teologica.

The thesis of the paper is that Lonergan’s notion of an authentic contemporary humanism is grounded in the foundational character of his position on the human subject. Three statements of this position taken from different periods and contexts are presented at the outset, and the context of each statement is studied. The first statement states the grounds of a philosophical humanism. The second indicates the grounds of a theological humanism in a coincidence of anthropocentrism and theocentrism. And the third states how that coincidence can be established and augmented, how an emerging theology grounded in intellectual, moral, and religious conversion can be a theological anthropology. A section is devoted to supporting the thesis on the basis of studying the notion of humanism in Insight. Another section adds the contribution that the author’s notion of psychic conversion supplies. And a final section explores how the philosophical anthropology of Insight is sublated by the moral and religious dimensions constitutive of a theological anthropology.
