L’autore, che ha seguito la preparazione e lo svolgimento del Sinodo sul tema “La Parola di Dio nella vita e nella missione della Chiesa” (Roma, 5-26 ottobre 2008), presenta il suo contributo con un riferimento costante a Lineamenta e Verbum Domini, facendo interagire i due poli, prima e dopo, con quanto emerso nel Sinodo stesso. In dialogo con diversi autori, riflette sul Vangelo di Giovanni, il cui prologo serve come sfondo per articolare l’Esortazione apostolica Verbum Domini. Considera i principali metodi esegetici moderni, e – in linea con i primi due volumi di Benedetto XVI su Gesù di Nazaret (2007 e 2011) – privilegia l’approccio canonico.

The author, who followed the preparation and development of the Synod on “The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church” (Rome, 5-26 October 2008), presents its contributions with a constant reference to the Lineamenta and Verbum Domini, allowing interaction between the two poles, before and after, with the conclusions of the Synod itself. In dialogue with different authors, he reflects on the Gospel of John, whose Prologue serves as the background to articulate the Apostolic Exhortation Verbum Domini. The author considers the main modern exegetical methods, and – in line with the first two volumes of Benedict XVI Jesus of Nazareth (2007 and 2011) – focuses on the canonical approach.
