I libri che don Vincenzo Recchia aveva saputo mettere insieme e sui quali egli aveva quotidianamente compiuto le sue ricerche, dedicate soprattutto a «Gregorio Magno papa ed esegeta biblico», con costanti incrementi, avevano costituito poco alla volta una discreta biblioteca specializzata. Con un esplicito documento don Recchia dichiarava che la biblioteca da lui raccolta, con il consenso dei Superiori, durante il periodo del suo impegno universitario, era di proprietà della Congregazione Salesiana e sulla sua destinazione avrebbe deciso il Rettor Maggiore pro tempore, quando non ne avrebbe avuto più bisogno come strumento del suo lavoro quotidiano. Il Rettor Maggiore ha destinato tali libri alla biblioteca della Facoltà di Lettere dell’UPS. Trasferita da Bari a Roma a fine agosto del 2002, per volontà di don Recchia, la biblioteca a lui appartenuta, è stata mantenuta unita e collocata in un luminoso ambiente della nuova biblioteca don Bosco dell’Università Pontificia Salesiana.

The books that don Vincenzo Recchia collected and with which he conducted his daily research, that was concentrated for the most part on Gregory the Great, as Pope and the interpreter of the Bible, after constant additions formed a fairly specialized library. Don Recchia, with the permission of his superiors, explicitly stated in a document that his library, which he had collected during the years he taught at the university, was the property of the Salesian Congregation and that the Rector Major pro tempore would have decided on its destination when he had no further need of it as the instrument of his daily work. The Rector Major donated these books to the Faculty of Letters of UPS. His library was transferred from Bari to Rome at the end of August 2002, according to the wishes of don Recchia. It was maintained intact and situated in a well-lit room in the new don Bosco library in the Pontifical Salesian University.
