L’articolo presenta i cenni biografici di Cristina di Markyate, vissuta in Inghilterra nel XII secolo. Questo articolo nasce come frutto della ricerca fatta a proposito della prima edizione critica del testo latino del XII secolo con traduzione in lingua italiana a fronte. Cristina è un personaggio poco conosciuto in Italia, ma nei paesi di lingua anglosassone esiste una grande quantità di studi fatti su di lei. L’articolo presenta le note biografiche sulla vita di Cristina, la famiglia e i personaggi che hanno svolto un ruolo importante nella sua vita. Si parla anche dei documenti non tramandati nella Vita e della questione della verginità. Tutti questi argomenti hanno come scopo di far conoscere Cristina di Markyate, la prima badessa del monastero della Santissima Trinità.

The article presents notes for the biography of Christina of Markyate who lived in England in the twelfth century. This article is the result of research undertaken on the first critical edition of the Latin text of the twelfth century with the translation in Italian. Christina is a figure little known in Italy, but in the English-speaking world there are a considerable number of studies about her. This article presents her biography, her family, the people who played an important role in her life. Something is also said about documents which are not presented in the Vita, and about the question of virginity. All of this is intended  make known Christina of Markyate, the first prioress of the monastery of the Holy Trinity.
