L’Autore ci avverte ch’egli ha pubblicato un articolo su Gv 7,37-39 su questa stessa rivista venti anni fa. Ora egli ritorna su quel testo per aggiornarlo con uno studio in tre parti. È specialmente degno di nota il fatto che egli opera due comparazioni: da una parte, tra Gv 7,37-38 ed alcuni testi sapienziali; dall’altra, tra Gv 7,37-38 e Gv 6,35. Egli conclude nuovamente che Giovanni sta citando il medesimo testo di Isaia 55,1-3a, ma con influssi di vocabolario dalla letteratura sapienziale. Nella terza parte l’autore presenta la sua ipotesi sulla famosa frase che si riferisce ai fiumi di acqua viva. Questa frase fu inclusa in Gv 7,37-39 in un secondo momento, durante una revisione sacramentalista già nota agli autori. Ciò spiegherebbe perché l’espressione «toËto d¢ e‰pen» (v. 39) non si riferisce a questa aggiunta, che la precede immediatamente, ma alle parole che Gesù pronunciò, prima di questa frase (vv. 37-38a).

The author reminds us that he published an article about John 7,37-39 in this same journal twenty years ago. Now he returns to the same text to update it in a three part study. It is especially interesting to observe the two comparisons that he makes between John 7,37-38 and some wisdom texts, on the one hand, and between John 7,37-38 and John 6,35, on the other. He concludes again that John is quoting the same text of Isaiah 55,1-3a, but with vocabulary influences from wisdom literature. In the third part, the author presents his hypothesis about the famous phrase which refers to the rivers of living water. This phrase in John 7,37-39 was included afterwards in a sacramentalist revision, already known to the authors. This would explain why the expression «toËto d¢ e‰pen» (v. 39) does not refer to this addition, that immediately precedes it, but to the words Jesus spoke, before this phrase (vv. 37-38a).
