Della traduzione della Bibbia ad opera di Lutero, prima si offre una descrizione esterna dell’episodio, il contesto storico e le maggiori caratteristiche letterarie: la lingua di partenza e quella di arrivo (1. l’impresa). Poi elenca una serie di caratteristiche legate a quella effettiva situazione: stile molto appassionato, sollecitudine pastorale, prospettiva non solo letteralista, preoccupazione teologica (2. la situazione e le caratteristiche). Firstly we are given an external description of the translation of the Bible, its historical context, main characteristics, its original language and the language into which it is translated. (I. the endeavour) Then it gives a list of the characteristics which are linked to an actual situation: the very forceful style, the pastoral concerns, the perspective which is not solely a literal one, the theological preoccupations (2. The situation and its characteristics). Then it indicates the important themes which are involved: the use of modern everyday language, the faithful translation, interpretation and pedagogy (3. Among the themes involved). Lastly it underlines its limits, its relationship with theology and other translations.
