L’articolo affronta la questione fondativa del linguaggio umano e le sue varie declinazioni, tentando di descriverne caratteristiche ontologiche, modalità e finalità. Esiste una connessione tra dimensione spirituale, parola e realtà. Il linguaggio è l’epifenomeno dell’interiorità dell’essere umano e le parole hanno il compito di nominare la realtà, ma talvolta perdono di identità e di importanza, fino a smarrirsi. Alla base di questo smarrimento si possono identificare non soltanto cause legate alle mode, ma soprattutto alla perdita dei valori di riferimento che supportano le parole. Quando un valore perde di identità, anche la parola che ne è epifenomeno, esce dall’uso. Recuperare parole smarrite vuol dire restituire al mondo dei valori mappe di riferimento per chiamare per nome ciò che ancora è necessario.

The paper addresses the founding question of human language and its various declinations, attempting to describe its ontological characteristics, methods and purposes. There is a connection between spiritual dimension, word and reality. Language is the epiphenomenon of the interiority of the human being and words have the task of naming reality, but sometimes they lose their identity and importance and get lost. At the basis of this confusion, we can identify not only causes linked to fashions, but above all to the loss of the reference values that support them. When a value loses its identity, even the word that is its epiphenomenon goes out of use. Recovering lost words means returning reference maps to the world of values to name what is still necessary.
