La riflessione presenta il cammino della Chiesa africana nel periodo che separa i due Sinodi speciali per l’Africa. Focalizzato sull’Africa, lo studio vuole analizzare e presentare brevemente i problemi già affrontati dalla Chiesa-famiglia nel Sinodo del 1994. Offre una visione globale dei problemi che riguardano la vita ecclesiale e il ministero pastorale in Africa. Il bilancio dell’azione evangelizzatrice mette l’accento sul processo d’inculturazione che il Papa Giovanni Paolo II ha proposto con insistenza agli africani nel 1994. I documenti e i libri hanno segnato la via da seguire, ma le mentalità non sono ancora cambiate. Una nuova situazione nascerà se le strutture formative ed educative saranno trasformate e se gli attori dell’evangelizzazione (vescovi, presbiteri e consacrati in prima linea) accetteranno di lasciarsi inculturare.

The study presents the journey of the African Catholic Church in the period between the two special Synods for Africa. It seeks to analyse and expound in a brief manner the problems already studied by the Church-Family in the Synod of 1994. The study gives a global vision of problems closely connected with the pastoral ministry in Africa. Its assessment of evangelization puts the emphasis on the process of Inculturation, which Pope John Paul II proposed with insistence to the african people in 1994. Documents and books indicate a plan to be followed, but mentalities have not yet changed. The new situation will be born only if the formative and educative structure is transformed, and if the leaders of the process of evangelization (especially bishops, priests and consecrated persons) accept to be inculturated.
