L’attualità del pensiero estetico di Ernst Bloch non si comprende senza il riferimento a George Simmel. Filosofo il primo, sociologo il secondo, richiamano entrambi all’importanza della riflessione estetica (estetica della forma) per i processi culturali e la filosofia. Il saggio si concentra in modo particolare su due aspetti condivisi nella loro proposta speculativa: il fattore profondità e l’attenzione al singolo. La riflessione filosofico-antropologica fa emergere come le potenzialità delle emozioni individuali che l’esperienza artistica produce, potrebbero agire da contrasto e da critica sociale al trend imitativo omologante della modernità avanzata, risvegliando il desiderio di progettualità in parte venuto meno. In questo modo si rileva quanto la riflessione filosofica e quella sociologica, siano intimamente connesse.

The topicality of Ernst Bloch’s aesthetic thought is not understood without referring to George Simmel, a philosopher the first and a sociologist the second. In fact, both recall the importance of aesthetic reflection (aesthetics of form) for cultural processes and philosophy. The essay focuses especially on two aspects shared in their speculative proposal: the depth factor and the attention to the individual. The philosophical and anthropological thinking reveals how the potential of individual emotions, that artistic experience produces, could act as a contrast and a social criticism to the homologating imitative trend of the advanced modernity, awakening the desire for planning which has partly failed. In this way it is clear that philosophical and sociological reflections are intimately connected.
