Partendo dallo storico, ampio interesse del cinema per la Bibbia, si approfondisce il rapporto studiando quali possano essere somiglianze e differenze tra le due modalità di rappresentazione (letteraria e cinematografica) della Sacra Scrittura avvalendosi del tradizionale modo di analizzare testi letterari, cioè l’esegesi, e testi cinematografici, cioè la semiotica, mettendo in rilievo la ricchezza della narrazione come piattaforma comune. Ciò porta a evidenziare anzitutto che il trattamento audiovisivo di un testo biblico in maniera corretta, non è una riproduzione letterale di esso, ma una sua creativa narrazione. Da questa emerge una interpretazione etico-antropologica che non tradisce il dato biblico, ma è Bibbia in altro modo che contribuisce con le sue modalità artistiche di rappresentazione in misura originale alla formazione spirituale, etica e culturale della gente.

Starting from the historical interest of the cinematographers for the Bible, the article explores the relationship between the two modes of representing Sacred Scripture (the literary and the cinematographic) by studying the similarities and differences. It does this by using, both, the traditional way of analyzing literary texts through exegesis, and the cinematographic way through semiotics. In doing so, it highlights the richness of narrative as a common platform. This leads, first of all, to the emphasis that the correct audiovisual treatment of a biblical text is not a literal reproduction of it, but rather, a creative narrative of it. Thus emerges an ethico-anthropological interpretation that does not betray biblical data, but is the Bible in another way, which contributes – with its artistic and original modes of representation – to the spiritual, ethical and cultural formation of people.
