Questo studio riguarda il commento ai primi due articoli della quaestio II (An Deus sit) della I Pars della Summa Theologiae di san Tommaso d’Aquino da parte del domenicano Agustín de Esbarroya (Ibarreta, Esbaraga, Sbarroya, Sbarroia) che nella metà del XVI secolo fu maestro di Teologia presso il Collegio-Università Santo Tomás di Siviglia (Spagna). Dopo aver fornito alcune brevi note di carattere introduttivo sull’autore e sulla sua produzione, si offre la trascrizione del testo ancora inedito del commento di Esbarroya presente nel Manoscritto 9409 della Biblioteca Nacional di Madrid, frutto delle lezioni da lui tenute a Siviglia durante il periodo 1539-1550. La seconda parte del saggio è dedicata ad alcune considerazioni storico-contenutistiche.

This study focuses on the commentary of the first two articles of the quaestio II (An Deus sit) of the I Pars of the Summa Theologiae of St. Thomas Aquinas by the Dominican Agustín de Esbarroya (Ibarreta, Esbaraga, Sbarroya, Sbarroia) who, in the middle of the 16th century, was professor of theology at the University College Santo Tomás of Seville, Spain. After providing a few brief introductory notes regarding the author and his work, this study offers a transcription of the yet-unpublished text of the commentary of Esbarroya contained in the Manuscript 9409 of the National Library of Madrid, fruit of the lessons he held in Seville during the period 1539-1550. The second part of the study is dedicated to considering some historical and content aspects of the text.
