La società agricola dell’età gregoriana è ben descritta e analizzata nel volume di Vincenzo Recchia. Il dotto salesiano, che alle opere del grande papa medievale dedicò l’intera sua vita di studioso, ha saputo in questo lavoro di taglio storico rappresentare con chiarezza e documentato rigore il quadro di una realtà concreta di uomini che, ognuno nelle diverse funzioni del lavoro agricolo (amministratori e lavoratori), vivono nell’Italia del tempo. Il grande papa è soprattutto intento a promuovere la giustizia sociale e, nel solco dell’insegnamento evangelico, a reprimere le ingiustizie dei ricchi sui poveri.

The agricultural society of the Gregorian age is well described and analyzed in the volume by Vincenzo Recchia. The learned Salesian, who dedicated his entire life as a scholar to the works of the great medieval Pope, was able to represent, in this historical-oriented work, with clear and documented rigor, the framework of a concrete reality of men who, in different functions of agriculture (managers and workers), lived in the Italy of time. The great Pope is above all animated by the intention to promote social justice and, in the wake of the Gospel, to suppress the injustices of the rich over the poor.
