Il contatto diretto di Mounier con l’Africa è stato molto breve. Potrebbe sembrare perciò una forzatura l’aver voluto interrogarlo oggi sull’educazione in un’Africa dilaniata dalla povertà, la guerra e una mondializzazione che sembra voler inghiottire nel suo ingranaggio le sue enormi potenzialità umane. In realtà nel suo breve viaggio, Mounier tocca dei problemi cruciali per l’educazione africana con l’intuizione di chi parla senza il benché minimo sentimento di superiorità o di frustrazione per il fatto di appartenere al mondo dei colonizzatori.

Mounier’s direct contact with the continent of Africa was only short-lived. As such it sounds presumptuous or even out of place to probe his education thought concerning Africa which is today torn apart by poverty, war and globalization which seems to deplete the enormous human potentials of the continent. However, in his adventures Mounier delved into the salient problems that plague Africa. He did this without the superiority complex nor with the frustration of one who hails from a colonizing world.
