L’articolo propone un programma di lavoro per risolvere il problema posto alla teologia dalla odierna separazione tra esegesi e interpretazione. Benché sia impossibile ritornare nostalgicamente al passato, l’articolo nota alcune difficoltà sollevate da questa separazione e descrive i vantaggi e i limiti del metodo storico-critico e del metodo spirituale patristico. Al fine di proporre un programma di lavoro, viene esaminata la Trasfigurazione di Nostro Signore (Lc 9,28-36) sia secondo il metodo storico-critico usato da due esegeti moderni, sia secondo il metodo spirituale di due padri. La conclusione dà una valutazione di entrambe le esegesi e una indicazione di come i differenti risultati possono essere ordinati in una sintesi.

This article makes a proposal for a work programme which takes into consideration the problem of the present separation of exegesis and interpretation in theology. Although the basic premise is that a nostalgic return to the past is impossible, it underlines some difficulties which are caused by this separation and describes the advantages and limits of both the historical-critical method and the spiritual patristic method. So in order to give a practical work programme for more advanced students, the Transfiguration of Our Lord in the narration of Luke’s Gospel 9, 28-36, is examined first according to the historical-critical method used by two modern exegetes and afterwards in the spiritual method of two patristic authors. The conclusion gives the evaluation of the exegesis of the two methods and an indication of how the different results may be coordinated and harmonised.
